KUALA LUMPUR (The Malay Mail) : Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s latest book Through My Lenses will provide an opportunity for all to get into the mind of one of world’s greatest thinkers and to feel the world through his paradigm.
Launched this afternoon by wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, Through My Lenses is a collection of photographs taken by Dr Mahathir during his time in office and after he relinquished his post.
It contains over 300 personal photographs captured by him in Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Ukraine, Japan, China, Indonesia, Turkey, Dubai as well as Malaysia.
There are also handwritten captions for the photos by Dr Mahathir, who was present at the launch.
This exclusive coffee table book was conceived by Dr Mahathir’s youngest daughter, Maizura Mahathir and her two friends, Zin Oo Ko and Razlan Rashid, who were also the editors of the book.
“Tun likes taking photos as a way of noting things down, as a reminder or just to capture the beauty of a moment, and we began to discuss ways of putting together a medium that can present his thoughts and visions,” the trio said.
With over 10,000 photos, the book is a channel used to communicate the thoughts of Dr Mahathir.
Through My Lenses is available at all major bookstores and is retailed at RM99.
